Harry, today I learned about the loss of your son Alex. I could not believe but when I googled his name, it became clear. When we worked together, you always spoke so highly of Alex and even though I never met him I knew he was a very special person. I am deeply deeply sorry for your loss.

Alex and I went to GW together and got to know one another quite well in student government. I was shocked and saddened to learn about his passing earlier today and will use this deeply regretable news to pay forward the happiness Alex gave me and to remember that friendships should be cherished and not taken for granted. Although we have spoken to each of you, we feel we need to write something too. However, we know this will not take away the pain we are feeling. We just hope it helps a little. We also hope it helps alleviate your pain in knowing that Alex will always be remembered by his friends. Alex was a kind, good-natured person who also happened to be one of my first friends at The George Washington University when I stepped onto campus in 1997 as a freshman.
