AMANDA KNECHT Obituary

KNECHT, AMANDA JEAN DAMON, Amanda Jean Damon Knecht, 37 (October 6, 1978 August 19, 2016), is survived by husband Damian Knecht; parents Rev. Robert Damon and Karin; sister Andrea Damon; grandmother Jean Steinbach; uncles Richard Steinbach (Susan), Robert Steinbach (Nancy); honorary aunt Jane Heuperman and cousins Dawn Hill, Kevin Steinbach, Greggory Steinbach and Sarah Brobst. Amanda was a Broward County school teacher for 17 years within a Montessori school setting. She was totally dedicated to her students and her Virginia Shuman Young Elementary Family where she was recognized as "Teacher of the Year." Amanda will be forever missed by her loving and heartbroken family, and all those who benefitted from her unique methods of teaching, kindness and love. Special thanks to Memorial Hospital doctors, Jacob Tangir and Maksin Ahmed Siddiqui, and all those who tried all they could to have Amanda's life go on. Amanda was an advocate for equality rights, rights for those affected by gun and domestic violence and autism. Amanda is truly a disciple of our Lord and is now at rest in His Heavenly Kingdom. We thank those around the world who kept us in their prayers. The family is overcome with grief after this courageous fight against cancer. A private memorial was held in Amanda's memory. No other service is planned at this time. Donations can be made to any of the above causes or St. Laurence Homeless Shelter 1698 Blount Road Pompano Beach, FL 33069. I just learned of Amanda's passing and am very sad that such a nice loving teacher passed away. She taught my son over 14 years ago and I will always be grateful for her genuine love and the concern she showed for my son and all the children she taught. She will be missed. She made a great contribution to society and made this difficult world a better place.

Our daughter was very fortunate to have Ms. Knecht for her teacher in her early school years. We are and will always be forever grateful for all she has done for our daughter, for us as parents and for our family. Instead of judging our daughter -who was very delayed in her learning and overall development, she welcomed her with love, showered her with kindness, gave her attainable goals to help with her confidence. She knew exactly when to push forward or when to back off so our daughter wouldn't get too overwhelmed with school and with life. She helped her socially and also taught us to manage our own expectations. She will forever live in our hearts. I hope knowing what a difference Amanda made in so many lives offers her loved ones some comfort.

I was just informed about Mrs. Knecht! Am so incredibly saddened by the news! She was an incredible soul, taught both of my kids at VSY. She gave this universe so much, taught our young children. And gave them an incredible foundation. With a very heavy heart, my condolences to the entire family..

There are no words to express the grief of all that knew Amanda. She was one of a kind, and will always remain in our hearts forever. She was loved and will be missed so very much. Aunt Jane
