BARBARA HARMON Obituary

HARMON, BARBARA E., died peacefully Monday morning, February 22, 2010. She was born in Key West on August 28, 1927. Not long after her birth, her family moved to Miami. She graduated from Ponce De Leon High School and attended the University of Miami. For over 50 years, she lived in Coral Gables. Her children Kathryn, Deborah and John graduated from Coral Gables High School. In 1981, Barbara and her late husband John purchased Sykes Printing and along with their son, John, and daughter, Deborah, steadily enlarged the business in downtown Coral Gables. In 1987, after the death of her husband John, Barbara took over as sole owner. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Muldoon and her husband, Thomas, her son John E. Harmon and his wife Debra, her grand- children: Brian A. Piper, John E. Harmon, David S. Harmon, her brother Robert Evans and his wife Carmen, her sister Patricia Mitchell and her husband Tom in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John E. Harmon, her infant son John, her daughter Deborah Piper, her sister Betty Steward, and her mother and father, Evanette and Robert Evans. Please join her family and friends for a celebration of her life on Thursday evening, February 25, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Stanfill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Stanfill Funeral Home; interment to follow at Woodlawn Park, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida. We were so sorry to hear about Barbara. Our mother, Esther, so enjoyed the time they spent together as "roommates" at rehab. She was a wonderful lady who always had a big smile for us each day that we saw her. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
