Miami, Florida - Barbara Smalley Selznick, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Born in September of 1944 to Eleanore and H. Earl Smalley, she was the second of what became a large and loving family in Coral Gables, Florida. Barbara graduated from Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach in 1962. She attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY before she began map-hopping California, Wyoming, Hawaii and more. Her love of travel and adventure led to her career as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines.

After a successful blind date, Barbara met and married Jeffrey Selznick, the son of the legendary David O. Selznick, and a producer himself. Their life in Miami and California was filled with endless parties, horse racing fun and travel. When Jeffrey died in 1997, Barbara returned to Miami.

Barbara had a gift for friendship. Funny, fun-loving and generous in spirit, Barbara was a friend for life, and she truly had many dear friends to show for it. She was the friend you always wanted; loyal, smart, funny, caring all in one package. It always felt so good to be around Barbara. Just being herself, her genuine candor was classic funny. When each of us remembers our sister and friend, we will surely chuckle at something she had said to us.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Sansi Landry. She is survived by her siblings Peter Smalley (Faddy), Michael Smalley (Gina), Marilyn Smalley, Patty Smalley Bingham, Susan Smith (John), and Betsy Smalley (John), all of whom will cherish her memory.
