I met Bertica when I was 15, when my mother married her former husband, Pablo; A wonderful man, who was the only father I ever had. That didn't exactly make her my step-mother. There is no specific word i know of for our familial relationship, but thats alright. It was a special relationship, and she was very special. Bertica was the mother of my step-siblings, Pablo, Berta, Celia, Lucy and Vangy, all of whom I love dearly. My heart goes out to all of you. She always accepted me and we truly got along well. When we first met, we used to talk about psychology, which I wanted to study in college, and she was already doing that. I went on to receive a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, and she was my inspiration. Aside from that, we had many common interests. We could laugh together, discuss serious topics, and even argue, but I always loved her. I won't go on about how amazing she was, as everyone who knew her knows this. I wish i could be there today, but I am with all of you in spirit. Bertica, thank you for everything, and I will see you again.
