Bruce Maurice "Moe" Cease

Bruce Cease Memoriam

Bruce Maurice "Moe" Cease

(November 2, 1951 - March 14, 2024).

On March 14, 2024 we lost a good man.

Bruce was born in Miami to Parents Harold and Betty Cease. Grew up in the Westchester Neighborhood attending Everglades Elementary, West Miami Junior High and Coral Park Senior High where he excelled in Baseball under coach Red Berry. Received a scholarship to attend Miami-Dade Junior College South where he played for Coach Charlie Green. Drafted by the Washington Senators and later traded to the Houston Astros where he played minor league ball under coach Leo Posada. In the off-seasons he attended FIU where he graduated and went on to law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. Following law school, he returned to Miami where he joined father Harold and brother Allan in the practice of Law. Known as "Moe" growing up, and later as "Bruce" as an adult. He made many friends throughout life and mentored many, many clients during his 44 years as an attorney. Moe was a Charter Member and Past President of the West Kendall Optimists where he coached baseball for many years. He loved boating, fishing and diving, having survived a shark attack in Bimini on one of his dive trips.

Survived by Wife of 42 years, Rhonda; Brothers Allan (Thien), Michael (Carmen), Dana (Myra) and Jeffrey (Anne) and "6th Brother" Harvey Kornfeld (Mercy Yaniz) who spent every day and many nights with Bruce during his illness for which we will always be thankful. Step-Children Michelle Ropp (Rich) and Sean Lippincott (Joanne). "Pop" to Trenton, Tanner, Carolina and Ryan. Also survived by Aunt Barbara Bernstein, Uncles Maurice Wright and Albert Cease; many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and Friends.

We all lost a very good man.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bruce "Moe" as a child. My dad and his dad were best of friends. It´s been about 50 years since+! He was an amazing human being and excellent attorney. He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. May God give his family strength in these most difficult times. May he Rest In Eternal Peace

It seems like I have known Bruce forever, but it must have been a little over 25 years at the very most. He was 15 years my senior, but we both practiced law and played baseball for what is now known as Miami Dade College.

He played at the South Campus, near where I grew up, and my family lived right next to 75 years ago, but I traveled all the way downtown from Kendall every day to play for the Wolfson Campus.

Although I always knew he was a consummate professional, I knew nothing of his connection to baseball until a handful of years before he died. We had just started to become very close friends just before he died, but I did not even know he was ill.

It was in The Florida Bar News that I discovered he had died, and I was and am still so heartbroken that I have never said a word about it until now.

I know Bruce is in Heaven, and all I can say now is May God Forever Bless his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched, as he did mine.

Moe was truly a good man, a caring and concerned adult helping to mold young people at becoming good citizens through the Optimist Club of West Kendall Florida. The best sign of a successful person is the person you trust to give good advice, he was that person.
Rest in Peace, my sincere condolences to all the Cease Family.

I so sorry to learn of Moe's passing. Moe and I went to law school together at South Texas College of Law and had more than a few laughs. He was a good man.
