Carol Bowers Obituary

Carol Gruber Bowers

September 2, 1936 - May 11, 2025

Palmetto Bay, Florida - Mrs. Carol Gruber Bowers, age 88, passed away on May 11, 2025, in Palmetto Bay, Florida. Born on September 2, 1936, in Buffalo, New York, Carol lived a life marked by grace, devotion, and a strong fighting spirit with which she bravely battled cancer for over eight years. Carol graduated from Kensington High School in Buffalo and went on to attend the University of Buffalo. As a young woman, she pursued her interest in modeling and later shared her passion and poise as a teacher at Barbizon Modeling School for many years. Her dedication to nurturing others extended beyond the classroom when her children were young serving as assistant den mother for her son's scouting group and team coach for her daughter's softball team; she was always supportive of her children's interests and endeavors. A woman of deep faith and enduring commitment, Carol was a devoted member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church for 56 years. She found joy in singing with the church choir and played an active role in the Women In the Church ministry, where she served as historian. Her spiritual journey also included many years of participation in Bible Study Fellowship. She read her Bible daily and lived out her beliefs with humility and compassion. Carol had a lifelong love of journaling capturing the moments and memories that shaped her life journey. She embraced an active lifestyle; tennis, golf, biking, and long walks brought her both vitality and peace. Her kind spirit touched everyone she met; she was known for her generosity, elegance, warmth, and unwavering faith. Friends described her as a lovely lady, a wonderful friend, and a faithful follower of Christ. She maintained cherished friendships from childhood through every stage of life. Carol's legacy lives on through those who loved her dearly: her son Robert Lynn Jr. and his wife Kelly (Courington); her daughter Laura; granddaughter Fallon Bowers McCarthy and husband Kieron McCarthy; and two great-grandchildren, Riley Mae and Casey Leon McCarthy. She is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Robert Lynn Bowers Sr., as well as her parents William Edward Gruber and Evelyn Isabelle (Schelhamer). May Carol's memory be a blessing to all who knew her and a testament to a life lived with grace, purpose, and unwavering love.

Carol was an example of someone who dealt with disease in her later years so bravely and without complaint. She was such a role model to me... What a comfort to know that her absence amongst us means she is with her Lord and Savior.

Carol was a true lady. Gracious and kind. We shared BSF and served on Women In The Church together at OCPC. I am so glad to say I knew her and loved her.

Carol was always a gentle soul. I so appreciated her presence and encouragement during my years at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church.
