Choy Chin Obituary

CHIN, CHOY WAH, 89, of Miami, passed away on January 18, 2008, slightly more than a year after the passing of her husband of over 70 years, Fu. Also predeceased by her son Raymond, Mrs. Chin is survived by her large family, including eldest son Sin Yin Chow and wife Ai Ping and his grandson Herman Chow, as well as grandson Gee Ming Chow, wife Ari and great-grandsons, Christopher and Jonathon; granddaughter Ling Chow, and grandson See Ming Chow, wife Sueanne, all of the Miami area. Mrs. Chin is also survived by son Michael Chin and wife Patricia of Tallahassee and grandsons Patrick and Corey; sons Curt Chin of Sterling, VA., Kenneth Chin of Jacksonville, Julian Chin of Miami, and Earnest Chin of Camarillo, CA. and daughter Virginia "Moy" Chin of Miami. Mrs. Chin was born in Hoi Ping near Guangzhou, China and immigrated to the United States after World War II, when her husband was afforded that opportunity by the US Government for his service during the war. Initially she was a stay-at-home wife raising her large family and was well-known for her abundant oriental vegetable garden. When the elder children reached an age where they were able to care for the younger ones, she joined her husband full-time in operating the family grocery business, Joe's Market #22 in the Overtown neighborhood of Miami, typically open from 7 AM until 8 PM. After closing the store in 1980, she and her husband enjoyed their retirement. As long-time dedicated members of the Chinese Baptist Church of Miami, she supported her husband in his volunteer role as the caretaker of the church property, helping him as needed to ensure the property was properly groomed and maintained. She also loved spending time with her immediate and extended family and large circle of friends, both in and out of the church. Mrs. Chin will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her and will be especially remembered for having successfully raised her eight children, as well as her kindness to everyone. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, at Van Orsdel Family Funeral Chapel, 4600 SW 8th St. in Coral Gables from 6 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be conducted there on Tuesday, January 22, at 11:00 AM, followed by internment at Woodlawn North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Chinese Baptist Church of Miami, or your favorite charity in her memory. To The Chin Family, I give you my most deepest sympathy for your greatest loss. I just know that she was a loving and giving person. That in fact she will be deeply missed by many, but now she is jointed once again with her loving husband in heaven as it was before and it shall be until the end of times. May the Grace of God keep you in his tender loving Care always.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Choy Chin.
We saw alot of Choy Chin & Fu Chin when my mother, Myrtle Mongoy was here among us, but she too is now with the Angels.
I always remember your mom & dad with a big smile while your dad took all the pictures at different functions.
It seems like they had a very fulfilled life with a big family.
In closing I would like to extend from my family to your family, our deepest regrets in the passing of your parents.
Sincerely, Margaret Mongoy Mason
