David Roemer

1936 - 2025

David Frank Roemer, 89, of Palmetto Bay, Florida, passed away suddenly on November 29, 2025.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, David lived a full and spirited life. He was an accomplished attorney, a passionate golfer, and an enthusiastic fan of all things sports.

David is survived by his cherished wife of 66 years, Elaine Sloane Roemer; their children, Michelle (Steven) and Alan (Nicole); grandchildren Jennifer, Russell, Bryant (fiancée Kelsey) and Noah; and great-grandson Micah. He was predeceased by his parents, Essie and Al Roemer, and his brother, George Roemer.

Born in New York, NY, David moved with his family to Miami Beach at the age of two. He spent his youth on the vibrant streets of South Beach and was a proud graduate of Miami Beach High School ('54), the University of Miami ('58), and the University of Miami School of Law ('61).

David devoted most of his legal career to representing injured workers as a workers' compensation attorney. He was widely respected by colleagues, opposing counsel, and the administrative law judges before whom he practiced. As one of the first mediators in Dade County, David helped injured workers and insurers resolve cases with fairness, compassion, and efficiency. His dedication on behalf of injured workers was recognized in 1989 when he was the honored recipient at the Friends of Four Forty annual meeting.

David's happiest days were often spent on the golf course, exploring the country by motor home or car, or with family cheering on his beloved Miami Hurricanes, Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins.

David will be remembered most for his gentle nature, unwavering devotion to his family, and quiet generosity. He carried a deep empathy for those in need, often offering small but heartfelt acts of kindness.

Burial was private. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Open House at the family residence Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the Innocence Project of Florida, Camillus House, the Wounded Warrior Project, or a charity of your choice.
