HERNANDEZ, EDELMIRO, of Coral Gables, FL devoted husband and loving father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in Coral Gables, at the age of 90 with his wife of 67 years, Eduvigis, by his side. Edelmiro was born on May 29, 1926, in Habana, Cuba. He attended the University of Habana where he met Eduvigis Truyol Gimeno who would become his life-long partner. On July 30, 1949, they married, and in the subsequent years they had 2 children, Berta Esperanza and Edelmiro Ernesto. Edelmiro, a consummate businessman, established an accounting firm in Cuba. Once in exile, he worked in several executive posts in Finance and Banking in companies including Koehring Overseas Corporation, SunTrust Bank, Banco Vizcaya, and Banco Latino. This career took him around the world to Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States. Over the last twenty years, he focused on charitable works and gave much of his time to volunteering. He served as a member of the Board of Belen Jesuit School and of the Ignatian Spirituality Center (Manresa). Edelmiro not only was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, he was a beacon of light to all those who were fortunate enough to have shared a life journey with him. He was generous, kind, and ethical to a fault. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all persons whose life he touched. Edelmiro is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eduvigis, daughter Berta Esperanza, daughter-in-law Vivian Gutierrez, son Edelmiro Ernesto, daughter-in-law Marcia Lorenzini and grandchildren Giulia, Nikolai, Sofia, Nadal, and Natalia. The viewing will take place at Maspons Funeral Home, 3500 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135, on Thursday, October 27th, from 6 pm 9 pm. Funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held at 12:30 P.M.. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Raymond's Catholic Church, 3475 S.W. 17th St., Miami, FL 33145 followed by internment at Graceland Memorial Park, 4420 S.W. 8th St., Miami, FL 33134. Memorial donations may be made in Edelmiro's name to Belen Jesuit School and/or to the Ignatian Spirituality Center (Manresa).
