Elliott Harris

1931 - 2025

Elliott Harris, age 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Coral Gables on November 23, 2025. He was a long-time resident of Miami Beach, and for the last few years, enjoyed life at the Palace in Coral Gables. Elliott graduated from high school in Easton, PA and Penn State University. After years managing a hotel and apartment building on Miami Beach, he went back to school and received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Miami. He practiced law for 58 years in Miami and was proud to be Board certified in real property law. He was extremely well-respected by the Miami-Dade legal community and worked alongside his dedicated legal assistant Liza Garcia for 39 years.

Elliott fell in love with his wife, Arlene Fox, when they were students at Penn State. They were married for 62 years until her untimely death in 2014. He and his wife were long-time members of Temple Emanu-El on Miami Beach. Elliott enjoyed many years on the golf course with his friends and colleagues. Later in life he connected with a long-time friend Arlene Sokolow, who he and his wife Arlene met during their years at Penn State. After moving to the Palace where Arlene lived, the two became constant companions and their love blossomed in Elliott's last years.

Elliott was an incredible friend and mentor to many in the community. On numerous occasions, you would find Elliott surrounded by friends and/or family at his favorite restaurants on Miami Beach, where he was a gracious host.

Elliott Harris is survived by his loving children, Marti Gammon and her husband Tom (Miami), and Scott Harris and his wife Beth (Venice, CA). Elliott was most proud of his three grandchildren, Joshua Gammon, Jackson Harris and Wilson Harris. Elliott is also survived by his brother Arnold Harris and his wife Liz (E. Norriton, PA), as well as other loving family members. The entire family owes a debt of gratitude to Elliott's devoted caretaker, Marcia Cooper, who was always by his side, anticipating and attending to all his needs.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Memorial Gardens, 5505 NW 3rd Street, Miami with Shiva to follow at The Palace, 1 Andalusia Avenue, Coral Gables.
