Hilda Velez Firpi Obituary

VELEZ FIRPI, HILDA, passed away April 1, 2009. Hilda was born in Camuy, Puerto Rico on October 6, 1922. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother who helped raise three generations of her family's children in New York, Puerto Rico, and Miami. She had a passion for reading scripture and knitting for her family. Hilda is survived by her two sons Robert, wife Mirtha, and Ronald, wife Carmen; her six grandchildren Monique, Robert, Ronald, Denise, Isabelle, and Camille; and seven great-grandchildren Daniel, Michael, Joseph, Julia, Jack, Delaney, and Ronald. Her daughter Julie passed away in 1989. Her gentle acts of kindness will live forever in the memories of the many who loved her. A viewing will be held this evening, Friday, April 3 from 6 PM to 10 PM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn, 8200 SW 40th Street. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 10 AM at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 5909 NW 7th Street. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mercy.
