This is to salute a great American. Commander Sinquefield and I worked together for ten years to create the Miami Military Museum at NAS Richmond, FL. He was on my Board. I teach history and took down his oral history: He volunteered for the Navy in World War II and was enrolled in the NAVCAD (Navy Aviation Cadet) Program. He received basic flight training in Piper Cubs at the University of Georgia, Athens. From there he trained at Chapel Hill. In his same training company was Ted Williams the baseball athlete. He was trained to fly blimps at Moffett Field, California. He was stationed in the Brazilian jungle coast at Igurasu Besu and flew anti-submarine patrols against the Nazi U-boats. He was later recalled for the Korean War and retired from the Navy Reserve. He was always a gentleman and a help. I took my own naval commission because he urged me to. The Military Museum and the world will miss him.

Jim was a wonderful man. I met him many years ago when I first joined the Everglades Bicycle Club. He was such an asset to the club and its membership. He was always ready to lead a ride, provide encouragement to new riders, and willing to volunteer for other club events. He loved life and had great stories to tell about it.

My sympathies and prayers to Jim's family and friends.

Jim represented the spirit of Everglades Bike Club. He lead rides, coached new or slower riders and always put a smile on your face with a positive message or a funny joke. He attended many of the EBC events---hardly missed a picnic or a banquet until this past year.
Jim believed age was just a number and as long as he could ride his bike, he was doing fine.
Jim was so sweet and charming, I even tried to fix him up with my mother when she visited from Baltimore 7 years ago!!

Our thoughts go out to Jim and his family---I know the first question he will ask God when he makes it to heaven is "where are the road bikes and what's a good route to take up here"?

Tailwinds forever Jim!
