John Watson Obituary

WATSON, III JOHN W. "Jack", born in Miami, part of a longtime pioneer Miami family, died early Thursday morning. Watson Island was named jointly for his father, John W. Watson, Jr., city attorney and his grandfather, John Watson, a Florida senator and speaker of the FL House. John W. Watson III graduated from Ponce de Leon HS, attended and graduated from the University of Florida, member of the ATO fraternity, and graduate of University of Miami Law School. John Watson served in the US Army during the Korean War, member of the FL Bar since 1955. He was a member and chairman of the US Land Commission of the US District Court, 11th Judicial Circuit, Miami, FL. Member of the Judicial nominating commission, 3rd District Court of Appeals, Miami, FL. Jack loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Creer (John) and Janet Lindsley (Bill) and five grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, and Ashley Creer, Marilyn and John Watson Lindsley, and a sister, Doris Patricia Daly. Memorial Service on Saturday, 9/28/02 at 3:00 p.m. at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Funeral Home, 11655 SW 117th Avenue.
