KENNETH KENT Obituary

KENT, KENNETH R., Of Pembroke Pines passed away March 22, 2016 after a 3 year battle with cancer. He is survived by Jessie Woodin Kent, his wife of 62 years. and older brother Don Kent, plus 5 nieces and nephews and their families. From a family of railroad employees, his father taught him Morse Code and he worked summers for the CNW as a telegrapher. He joined the Navy at age 18 and quickly qualified as a radar/sonar technician and was assigned to 2 different submarines in the Pacific Theater dunng WWII. After the war he received a degree in Business Administration at Cornell College in Mt Vernon. Iowa and a later a degree in Accounting from the U. of Miami. Ken and Jessie moved to Miami in 1956 and have lived in the area since then. They also have owned a home in Beech Mountain North Carolina since 1972, 1st as a vacation spot and after retirement as a part-time home He was active in club activities. Ken had a financial career with Eastern Airlines over 25 years in Miami and NYC/Bermuda area until the companies demise. Subsequently he was employed by Paradise Airline and Renaissance Cruises. He loved and traveled the world. He will be remembered as fun loving, always with a sense of humor. Memorials can be made to Cornell College. Mt Vernon, Iowa or to the Cancer Society.

Dear Jessie and Kent family,

I just found out, my deepest condolences to you all. I have such fond memories of 'uncle' Ken, our visits to the US and our joint travels in Europe. I will always cherish those memories. May you Rest In Peace.
