I worked with Marty when he was of counsel at Walton Lantaff. No matter the circumstances, Marty kept a cool and balanced head. His ethical standards were second to none. I haven't spoken to Marty in years, but I miss him and the world is a poorer place for his loss.

I am a career litigator in Miami. I earned a BBA, MBA, and JD at the University of Miami (from 1995-2002). Professor Segal taught my first law course in my first year of college. I remember the experience well. His texts, lectures, and exams were my first exposure to concepts that serve as the foundation of my career. It was an honor to learn from him. At this time of loss (and celebration of a life well lived), my thoughts and prayers are with his family and close friends.

Professor Segal is one of the few professors who made a lasting impact during my time in undergrad at UM. He always instructed with passion and energy and I looked forward to hearing his stories in class every week. In my professional career, I use what I´ve learned in his class on a daily basis and will continue to keep him in my memory as one of his textbooks has a permanent home in my office.

I had the privilege of taking classes with Professor Segal at UM. He was an amazing instructor in the classroom and he always told the students we could reach him any time after graduating. He really wanted to help everyone as much as possible. In fact he set a lot of the direction I've taken in my life through those courses with him, helping me to navigate my entrepreneurial path, and I still think back to those classes 20 years later. I'll always appreciate his outstanding influence, he was a great man.

I am very thankful to have taken his class back in 1995 during my MBA program at UM. He was best the professor I had in all my time in college and graduate school. I reflect on what I learned from him on a regular basis. We will certainly be missed.
