Paul Soule' Obituary

SOULE', PAUL SHAMPAN, CLU, MSFS, 75, Fruitland Park, FL, died Saturday, June 8, 2013. Mr. Soule' was a chartered financial consultant and an accredited estate planner and a Mass Mutual insurance agent for more than 35 years. Born in Canton, OH, he moved with his family to Miami, FL in 1941 where he graduated from Miami Senior High School and the University of Miami. An Eagle Scout as a young man, Paul's love for aviation led him to the Air Force where he spent 18 years on flying status and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel. An avid outdoorsman, Paul loved to fish and wing shoot. Other avocations included woodworking and buying, selling and refurbishing private and corporate aircraft, the latter turning into yet another successful entrepreneurial business for which he was well known in the aviation community. His true love in life, besides his wife, was piloting an airplane. Paul's dedication to his clients as a financial advisor was also displayed in his philanthropic work as a board chair for numerous estate and tax planning associations and charitable planned giving advisory societies in the Miami area. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the Baptist Health South Florida Foundation. Paul's dedication to helping those serving the medical community continued with his move to Fruitland Park in October of 2011. He is survived by his wife, Jodie; sons David Soule' of Austin, TX., Steven Soule' of Houston, TX., his brother, George "Skip" Soule' of Summerfield, FL., and four grandchildren: Terri, Eli, Kristen and Alexis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baptist Health South Florida Foundation at BaptistHealth.net; and the AOPA Foundation at AOPA.org. A day of remembrance will be held at a future date. Online condolences may be left at www.beyersfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Lady Lake, FL

Paul and I were in some foxholes together. We were Mass Mutual agents, partnered in some clients, flew together, fished together and along with Jim Jones studied for our Masters degree together. Jodie, I remember the trip to San Diago with MML. Mine and Joans prayers are with you in this challenging time.

Paul was a great person and will be missed by many in our community. I had the privilege of working with him on projects and it was always enjoyable.
He wore a special pin on his lapel that was for his incredible run as an accident free pilot. It seems this was something beyond his control and we have lost someone special.

Paul was the consummate professional whose brilliant but soft spoken financial and estate planning expertise elevated the South Florida advisor community. He gave back his business to the community, using a charitable remainder trust, and was always willing to lend a hand, individually and through the numerous community organizations he served, including the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Baptist Health South Florida Foundation for which he served as Chairman of the Board.

I felt privileged to share a few of the more than 18,000 flight hours he logged, giving him the bird's eye view of the world which shaped his outlook. His 75 years were long enough for him to live life expansively, but much too short for the rest of us.
