Phyllis Robertson Obituary

ROBERTSON, PHYLLIS ROSE ANNETTE, Born March 15, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Philip and Rose Annette Morris, Phyllis passed away Jan. 29, 2006, in Miami. She was raised in Minneapolis, Minn., where she attended the University of Minnesota, including graduate work with B. F. Skinner. Active in hunting and fishing, she was the 1948 Minnesota Womans State Trap Shooting Champion. She married Henry Milton Robertson, Ph.D. Dec. 17, 1948 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage until his death in 1991. In 1961, she moved to Temple Terrace, Fla., where her husband was a founding faculty member at the University of South Florida (USF). She became an academic advisor at USF in the Department of Education, a position she held for 30 years. She served in many organizations and capacities in Temple Terrace, including president of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, president of the PTA of Temple Terrace Elementary School and moderator of the United Church of Christ of Temple Terrace. She was an active volunteer for the USF Botanical Garden, WUSF, the local National Public Radio affiliate, and the Florida Ornithological Association. After traveling to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Central America and the Pacific, she relocated to Miami in 2001 to be close to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Neil P. Robertson (Alyce), a daughter, Anne K. Robertson (Larry Meyer), and two grandchildren, Anne Marie Robertson and Katherine Marie Robertson, all of Miami. A remembrance will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at the home of Anne Robertson and Larry Meyer, 640 NE 58th St., Miami, Fla.
