South Miami , Florida - Richard Charles Palilonis, 72, of South Miami died at home Friday, August 6, 2021 surrounded by his family.
A devoted father and grandfather, Richard had a great sense of humor. He loved music, fishing, camping, spending time with his grandsons, and playing pool with his American Pool Association League team "The Mystic Jointz" at Peg's Pocket. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1825.
Born in Mannington, New Jersey on October 30, 1948 to I. Paul and Frances (née Stewart) Palilonis, he grew up in Pedricktown, New Jersey and graduated Penns Grove High School in 1966. He attended Rutgers University and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He eventually moved to Boston where he worked as a radio DJ, then on to Jamaica where he worked transporting yachts. In 1971 he moved to Key Biscayne, Florida where he met his wife Maggie. They married in 1973 and settled in South Miami, Florida where they lived for 43 years. In 1979, he established Miami Warehousing, a shipping and storage company specializing in fine art and designer furniture. From 1987 until his retirement, he worked for Otis Elevator and was a proud member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 71.
Richard is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Clay Palilonis and Nicole Seiler (Glen), his grandsons James and Simon Seiler, his siblings Stewart Palilonis (Betsy), Patty Lane (Dennis), and Nancy Palilonis (Jerry). He was predeceased by his parents I. Paul and Frances Palilonis.
