My first words when I went to my 50th high school reunion were: "Where's Rita?" I was devastated to learn her illness prevented her coming.
After she didn't attend the 40th, we were in touch and arranged to meet for dinner in Boston when she was up here for a conference.
I loved Rita when I knew her and even when we lost contact. Though it had been since our freshman year in college that we had any contact, I knew intuitively that she would have been the same lovely, genuine woman she had always been.
I can only imagine how hard her passing is for her family: the husband, children, grandchildren, in laws who knew her intimately. I also imagine how rewarding it must have been for her to have been the recipient of so much love during her lifetime.
I still remember going to visit Elliott and Rita in their home after they married. I mean, how many friends did I have with their own meat slicer?
Please accept my inadequate words as the hug I would give Elliott if I could.
Sincerely, Fredda Bloom Ceike

Dear Elliot and the entire Turk family:
We loved Rita's constant active pursuit of JOY and experiencing enriching activities in the Theater, and through jazz and classical music concerts and Art at the Museums in South Florida.
She was grandma to almost all of our 13 grandchildren and joined forces with me (Helen)often. There was no interesting site left untouched. We were more like youthful Aunt Mames than staid and conservative grandmas when we visited the Parrot Jungle, Butterfly World, Nickelodim, Seaworld etc.with 5-6 kids in the van.
Our grandchildren loved her and her return love was evident and fully appreciated.
We talked about how we would have Isabella join the expeditions in the future with our new entries:Dylan, Kayla and Kelly along with Joshua as we started a new wave of tourists/grandchildren to fill the van.
Her intellectual attributes were so apparent and enriched our lives. We enjoyed her laid-back relaxed attitude and conduct of solutions of daily problems. She was in control of her life and had a quest to grow and experience new stimulating adventures.
Rita Turk was an inspiration to us all.
Rita will live in our memory forever.
We consider ourselves lucky to have known her for the past 20 years. She always invited us to Chez Turk for the Holidays if we did not have a place to go.
Love,
Helen and Shelly Greer

Dear Elliott and Family,
Your Atlantic II at the Point neighbors have suffered a great and untimely loss.
Rita was a brilliant educator and participated fully in our condo life. Her sparkle will be sorely missed. at the weekly games and at dinners with friends.
She put up a magnificent fight, because she loved life with each of you so very much.
May her life be a blessing to all who touched and knew her.
