McTAGUE ROBERT HUGH, 89, died Tues. Dec. 31, 2002. Survived by his loving wife Lenore Schultz McTague; two sons, Robert H. McTague, Jr. and his wife, Doris of Tallahassee, and Neil Garrett McTague and wife Patty of Tampa; a daughter, Lucia M. McTague of Tampa; three grandchildren, Dr. Robert H. McTague, III of Madison, NJ, Mary Agnes Carte of Edina, MN, and Lauren Cotter McTague; three great grandchildren; a brother James A. McTague of Naples, FL; a sister-in-law, Dora McTague of Cartersville, GA; and several nieces. Mr. and Mrs. McTague recently moved to Tampa after living for over 50 years in Coral Gables. Bob was born in Scranton, PA on March 10, 1913. Soon thereafter his family moved to Bayside, Long Island. Bob attended Cornell University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He served in the US Navy during WWII, achieving the rank of Commander, and served at sea or on foreign duty for 4 1/2 years, having had command of two ships. He ended the service in Tsingtao, China and joined the Naval Reserve. He and his wife, Mary Cotter McTague (who predeceased him in 1963) settled in Coral Gables in 1947, where they were members of Little Flower Catholic Church and where they raised their three children. He was a Realtor and owner of Lester & McTague, Realtors, Inc. He was President of the Coral Gables Board of Realtors and was voted Realtor of the Year in 1966. He was also a Director of the FAR, member of the NAREB Broker's Institute, International Traders Club, Senior Member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and the Economic Society of South Florida. His civic involvements included: member of the Coral Gables Planning Advisory Board, Chairman of the CG Planning Zoning Board of Adjustment, Director of the Dade County Chapter of the American Red Cross, member of the Kiwanis Club, President of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the North Ponce de Leon Blvd. Development Association, a member of the Coral Gables Country Club, and was Past President of the Emerald Society of South Florida. Always a boat owner, Bob's "passion" was the sea, pleasure sailing, racing & cruising all his life. His sailboat "Nimbus" was a familiar sight on Biscayne Bay and he was an enthusiastic member of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, where he was life member and Past Commodore and Director. He was also a Director of the Marine Council, member of the US Naval Reserve, Retired Officers Association. A Funeral Mass will be said at 4 p.m. Today, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa. Pallbearers will be Robert H. McTague, III, Dwayne Carte, LeRoy Hennings, and John Sakkis. Graveside Services will be at Miami Memorial Park, Miami on Tues., Jan. 7 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to Catholic Charities, 2021 East Busch Blvd., Tampa, Florida 33612.
