Ronald Wallach Obituary

Ronald M. Wallach, of Hollywood, FL and formerly of Westport, CT passed away peacefully on June 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Born on December 25, 1937 in the Bronx, NY, he is the son of Benjamin and Sarah Wallach. Ron is survived by his loving high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Lynn Carow Wallach, and his children Lisa (Ray) Wiley, Arlene Wallach, and Daniel Wallach, his grandchildren Matt (Amy), Lauren, and Claire Wiley. He is the proud great-grandfather of Luke Albert Wiley. Ron is also survived by his sister, Judith Unger, and sister-in-law, Myrna Carlson. A graduate of the Bronx Science High School, Ron held a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the City College of NY. He went on to receive graduate degrees including a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration, from the University of Connecticut. Ron was a creative genius, inventor and entrepreneur who began his first business in the basement of his home. He started two women's healthcare medical device companies, Cryomedics in the early 1970s and Wallach Surgical Devices in the early 1980s, and held numerous patents. As President/CEO of Wallach Surgical Devices, which was sold in 2007, Ron was successful in introducing his products into global markets to help save women's lives. His company was a CE and ISO certified medical device manufacturing company of products sold to gynecologists. Ron was a savvy marketer and a strong competitor to corporations much larger than his own. In addition to being a very successful businessman, Ron was a generous philanthropist and community leader whose advice was sought by others. He was the President Emeritus of the Orange Economic Development Committee of Connecticut. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ron believed in hard work and the value of education and he put every member of his family through college, several with advanced degrees. Ron was an avid sailor, analyst of the financial markets, and investor. He loved watching football and cooking. Together with his wife, he enjoyed traveling the world for both business and pleasure. More recently Ron loved spending winters in Florida with his family and friends. Ron will be missed by his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Flash Gordon, who loved him dearly. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, with interment following at Temple Shalom Cemetery, 143 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850.
