Susan Parker Obituary

PARKER, SUSAN "Susie" D., 59, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away on November 22, 2016 after a valiant, quiet battle with cancer over 22 years. Susie was born on November 24, 1956 in Miami Shores, Florida, the daughter of the late Nadine and Thomas Parker Jr. She was raised in the Hialeah/ Miami Springs area, with her two siblings Terry and Thomas, where they attended Miami Springs Senior High School. It was there that she met her first husband, James Tuning Jr. and they later married in 1981. Susie and James raised their two children, Stacy Lynn and Kaley Marie in Plantation, Florida. Susie met her second husband, John Loos Jr., in 1996 through a mutual friend and colleague in her banking career. He was with her from the beginning of her cancer battle, has fought with her, and remained her rock throughout. She continued many years as a successful banker in Fort Lauderdale. In 2009, Susie became a business owner by opening a Massage Envy Spa in east Fort Lauderdale; a thriving business still today due to her leadership, experience and overall love for the company. Susie also enjoyed charity work and was known for her engaging, warm and bubbly personality. She was admired and respected by all of her peers. Above all, she was adored by her husband and family. Susie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She leaves behind her loving husband John Loos Jr., her two daughters, Stacy Karst (John) and Kaley Miller (Justin), a young son, Will Loos and her grandchildren Austin and Ashlynn Karst, whom she loved dearly. Stepchildren, Amy Mergler (Stephen), their daughters Elizabeth, Sarah, and Isabella, John Loos III (Marketa) and their children John IV, and Chase. Susie was the middle child of three and is survived by her sister Terry Parker-Miller (Bill), and brother, Thomas Parker III (Debby). Nephews, Michael Marchetti, Thomas Parker IV (Stacey), and niece Clarissa Parker (Garvey Foley) and their daughter Violet. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Parker Jr. (1979) and her mother Nadine Z. Parker, who passed away just six months ago. Susie was heartbroken at the loss of her mother who was also her dearest friend. "She is forever in our hearts and greatly missed forevermore." A celebration of her Life will be held for her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Susan G. Komen, metastatic cancer research fund. www.komen.org

Although I did not have the opportunity to personally meet Susan, through her sister in law Debby, who is also my dear co-worker, I feel as though I knew Susan. I was so inspired by how courageously she lived life despite the really difficult obstacles. It is obvious that she was surrounded by so many who loved her. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her family and friends who I know will miss her terribly.

I grew up with Susie as a Hialeah girl, in Girl Scouts and at Miami Springs Sr High, and ran into her on occasion over the years at reunion events. Throughout this time, I never knew she was suffering with cancer. She was such a positive influence on all she met, and such a beautiful woman. My heart goes out to those who were close to her, hoping that your fond memories occupy your mind at this most difficult time. Big hug to all!
