Sylvia Schaefer

Schaefer, Sylvia, The leadership, staff, and worldwide community of the Weizmann Institute of Science deeply mourn the passing of our beloved friend, Sylvia Schaefer. Sylvia was a member of the Institute's President's Circle, representing its highest level of philanthropic commitment, along with her husband Rowland. Their generosity in support of diabetes research and a new solar research complex advanced significantly Weizmann's efforts in these critical fields. The Schaefers also established a Professorial Chair and a Career Development Chair for young scientists, helping ensure innovation in Weizmann research for future generations. Their daughter, Marla, carries on the Schaefer family's legacy of leadership, serving on the American Committee's National Board and New York Regional Board. Sylvia will sorely be missed by the entire Weizmann family. We extend heartfelt condolences to her daughters Bonnie, Roberta, and Marla; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
