Ethel Murphy Obituary

Stramford, Conn. — It is with a heavy heart that we share that our beloved Ethel "Ms. Tuda" Murphy transitioned peacefully surrounded by family at Stramford Hospital.

Ethel Murphy was born July 14, 1922 in Marlboro County, SC, to the late Leroy and Gussie Williams. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Mr. Arthur Williams, Mrs. Willie-Lee Murphy, Mr. James Williams, and Mrs. Rosa-Lee Cook, all of Bennettsville, SC.

She worked as a caregiver for several families in Marlboro County, S. There she met and married Mr. John Wesley Murphy and raised her family. She was preceded by two of her sons: Mr. Franklin Williams, Bennerttsville, SC, and Mr. Willie Williams, Penn Yan, NY.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Catherine Dorsey, Stamford, Conn.

Her legacy lives on through her 11 grandchildren, several great-grands, and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves a host of grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 12 p.m. at The Bethea Chapel.
