Franklin Flick Obituary

Franklin 'Leon' Flick
Leon Flick died peacefully at his home in Plush, Ore., on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the age of 59, joining his father and grandparents.
Leon was born to Carroll and Vivian (Clark) Flick in Gunnison, Colorado on March 4, 1954. At the age of 3, they moved to Lakeview and then to Plush when he was a teenager.
He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1972. While still in school, he worked for the Taylor Ranch and, after graduating, he worked for the Lynch Ranch for several years as cow boss. For the past 15 years or so, he had stayed busy doing day work for the cattle ranchers in the Warner Valley. He was able to attend Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton long enough to earn an associate degree.
Leon and Billie were married in Winnemucca, Nev., on Jan. 28, 1988.
Leon was an accomplished cowboy poet, having produced two cassette tapes and publishing one book of cowboy poetry. He and Billie worked together making "Dinner On the Wagon" a successful and enjoyable business.
He was one of the founders of the Warner Valley First Responders Disaster Unit. He was also an active member of the Lake County Search and Rescue.
Leon will be remembered as a friend to all.
Leon was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Flick and is survived by wife, Billie Flick of Plush; mother, Vivian Flick of Lakeview; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Don Ashford of Klamath Falls and Thelma and Richard Goodnough of Applegate, Ore.; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Lake County Fairgrounds Sale Barn, with a potluck dinner in the fairgrounds exhibit building immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeview Disaster Unit/Gurney Fund, P.O. Box 1007, Lakeview OR 97630 or Lakeview Hospice and Home Health, 700 South J Street, Lakeview OR 97630 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

I will always remember our 2012 Nevada Deer hunt when we stalled my Lifetime Buck. It was a personal best Buck for both of us scoring 204 SCI after the 60 day waiting period. Thanks for being a great guide and Friend for many years. I also greatly enjoyed the Cowboy poetry.
