Karen Sellars Obituary
Karen Sue Sellars, 79 of Newberg Oregon, formerly of Klamath Falls, passed on December 20, 2022.
She is survived by her son Kevin Sellars, daughter Jennifer (Eric) White; Brother Roger (Jan) Keely, sister Machelle McDonald; brother- in- law Roger Dawes; grandchildren Amanda, Morgan, Noah, Wesley, Annalise and Ashlyn; Nephews, Michael (Laura), Sellars, Robbie (Donna) Sellars, Terry (Dayna) Sellars, Grant (Lissette) Keely, Steve (Deb) Keely, Curtis Keely, Lane Keely, Eric Keely and Michael Bergen; Nieces, Kathy Stevens, Pattie Dawes, Laurie Dawes, Stacy Keely and Breanna Urbanec; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Tate and Violet Keely, her sister Vicky Dawes, her brother Dwayne Keely, and her brother and sister- in- law Joe and Joyce Sellars.
Karen was born in Merced, California, she lived there until high school and then the family moved to Redding, California. She went to Enterprise High School, where she was involved in drama, yearbook, and various sports. Her favorite pastime as a teenager was water skiing at Shasta Lake.
After graduation her family moved back to Merced, California and she started working for the telephone company. She continued working for the phone company when her family moved to Klamath Falls and after marrying Gordon Sellars in April of 1965. When she and Gordon had their first child she stopped working at the phone company. While raising their two children she helped Gordon run their small grocery stores. From 1987-2003 she worked for the Klamath County Youth Ranch to rehabilitate troubled young boys, at last count she helped over 175 boys.
Karen won many awards with her ceramic and porcelain art, she was named and considered a Master Artist at ceramic shows. All her family members and friends have some sort of keepsake she made with love. Her other hobbies included showing and riding horses, water skiing, snow skiing and golfing.
A memorial service will be officiated by Don Ruhl on July 29 at 12 p.m. at Nile Street Church of Christ 2521 Nile St, Klamath Falls Or.
