O'CONNOR, Lois Eleanor (nee Burns)
September 20, 1925 - September 13, 2013
Lois O'Connor passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Glenmore Beverly Centre on a beautiful day in Calgary. She was predeceased by her son Little John and her husband John B. O'Connor. She is survived by her sister Marion Perry of Toronto, sister- in-law Sally Gallinari of Calgary, children Roderick, Patrick, their spouses and Tara Lee Klemke of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Brad, Kelly, Courtney, Sean, Ryan, Larkin their spouses, Morganne, Rebecca, Brendan and fifteen great-grandchildren all living in Calgary. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Lois was married to John on December 30, 1944. They spent 54 years together entertaining friends and family at fabulous parties that Lois would organize and create wonderful menus. John and Lois had wonderful adventures traveling the world and making many friends that lasted their lifetime. Lois was very active in charitable causes throughout the city of Calgary. She was involved in the Junior League and became Vice-President, and over half a century ago was instrumental in starting Daffodil Day, a fund raising program for the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Glenmore Beverly Centre for their care. Most importantly, the family thanks Jasna Popovic Bakic, her caregiver and friend for the past ten years. She looked after Lois in a loving and careful manner. On Sunday, September 22, 2013, a private interment will be held followed by a memorial reception for family and friends in memory and celebration of Lois's life. Reception to be held at Cilantro Restaurant from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Lois O'Connor, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
