Marian Lucas

Marian Lucas went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2017.
Mari was a longtime resident of Dorris, Calif.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1927, in Santa Ana, Calif., and grew up in Sheep Ranch, Calif., with her parents and two sisters. She helped on the family farm until she went to college in Long Beach, Calif.
Mari met her husband Robert Lucas on her way home from college one weekend. They were married on Feb. 8, 1947, and had two children Roberta and Daniel. Bob and Mari moved to several towns until settling in Dorris. They built their family home together and lived there for over 60 years.
Mari and Bob bred and trained hunting dogs for years at their home. Mari also was the manager at Mountain Valley Molding Company, where she worked until her retirement. Through the years, Mari also managed Picard Cemetery, volunteered for Dorris Lion Club activities, was a member of the Hoo-Hoo Ette Club, and helped with many other community events.
She loved hunting, fishing, playing games, and traveling. She enjoyed time spent with family and babysitting her favorite dogs. Mari would often talk of her trips to Alaska or summers spent at Medicine Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, daughter Roberta Criss, son Daniel Lucas, sister Harriet Dent, and her parents Gordon and Florence Robertson.
Mari is survived by her grandchildren Ron and Heather Criss, Renee Criss, and Jennifer and Patrick Dugan; son-in-law Russell Criss; daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Lucas; sister Barbara Stewart; great-grandchildren Chad and Morgan, Tanner, Mackenzie, Michael, and Katie; and a great-great-grandson who will be arriving in September.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
