Ruby Huntsman Obituary

Ruby Irene Huntsman passed away on July 3, 2009, in Keno, Ore. She was 76. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Seaside Christian Church, 88786 Delmorr Loop, Warrington, Ore. Ruby was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in Weiser, Idaho, to Elmo and Anna Baden Taylor. She grew up Aloha, Ore., graduated from Beaverton High School, attended Western Oregon, and graduated from Portland State University with a master’s degree in education. She then began her career as an elementary school teacher in Walla Walla, Wash., and then from 1966 to 1992 in Seaside, Ore., where she retired after 34 years of service. Ruby was a member of the Seaside Christian Church and enjoyed all church activities and functions. She also enjoyed walking, gardening, genealogy, and anything that involved her family, especially her grandkids. She was a member of the AAUW and felt teaching young people to be free thinkers was an important endeavor. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Ryan and Donna Huntsman of Keno, Eric and Angie Huntsman of Seaside, and Frank and Sandy Bailey of Montana; son Craig Huntsman of Klamath Falls; much loved former daughters-in-law Miram Wysong of Astoria and Kim Huntsman of Klamath Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law Bud and Janice Taylor of Washington and Bob and Sue Taylor of Hillsboro; sister and brother-in-law Ardith and Don Stout of Tillamook; brother Les Taylor of Idaho; grandchildren Kate and Kevin Kennel, Elizabeth Huntsman, Sophia Alacorn, William Crook, Lauren Forsythe, Caleb Huntsman, Haley and Mahala Huntsman, and Chelsea and Alex Huntsman; great-grandchildren Candance and Liliana Kennel, William Crook Jr. and Cash Huntsman; and legions of friends from her church, AAUW and teaching.
