Alice Crenshaw Moore
Alice Crenshaw Moore, 93, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Agape Hospice in Lexington, S.C.
Alice was born on September 12, 1927, in Bristol, the youngest daughter of the late Elbert Wiley and Mary Childress Crenshaw. She lived all her life in Bristol. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles B. Moore Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Crenshaw Burns and a niece, Ann Burns.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Hunsucker and husband, Mike, and Judith Haile and husband, Tommy; one son, Charles Moore and wife, Teralea; three granddaughters, Laura Lengers and husband, Hans, Meredith Briggs and husband, Joseph, and Mary Alice Fralick and husband, Elliott; two grandsons, Charlie Hunsucker and wife, Heidi, and Paul Haile and wife, Sarah; one step-grandson, Sam Blanton and wife, Hannah; and ten great-grandchildren. Two nieces Elizabeth Burns and Catherine Pippin also survive along with two great-nieces.
Alice was educated in the Bristol Tennessee schools and graduated from Tennessee High School in 1945. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia in 1949. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was a loyal member of the Sanctuary Choir for most of her adult life. She was also active in Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Bristol Concert Choir and Women's Study Club.
After her children were in school, she worked at the Sullins College Library and also the Bristol Public Library. For many years she enjoyed reunions with her many friends from her Tennessee High class. She was a member of the 1900 Literary Club and volunteered for Wellmont Hospice.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the workers of the Memory Care Unit at Wellmore of Lexington, S.C. and the Agape Hospice in Lexington, S.C. for their care of our mother. Our most heartfelt thank you goes to the community of neighbors on Seventh Avenue and friends at First Presbyterian Church whose love and prayers sustained our parents through many years.
A private burial will be held in Shelby Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. to the glory of God with the Rev. Dr. Sam Weddington officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Minister's Discretionary Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 701 Florida Avenue, Bristol, TN 37620.
