James Alvin "Jim" Smith

James Alvin "Jim" Smith, age 87, of Blountville, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Lonna Smith; wife and mother of his children, Betty Lou Thompson Smith; and five brothers and three sisters.
Left to cherish his life with him is his wife, Ruth Ann Crussell Smith; sons, Mike and wife, Barbara, Tim and wife, Dawn, and Chris and partner, Quig; three grandchildren, Sara, Megan and Tayler; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ed Smith, Charles Smith and Peggy; several nieces and nephews.
Jim retired from Eastman after 26 years. One of his greatest joys was going fishing (Bass) with family and friends especially in Georgia with his buddies. He was blessed with a wonderful church family at Enterprise United Methodist Church. He was a friend to all who knew him. He became very fond of his Avalon Hospice caretaker and her family, Stefanie and Dave Bowie and children, Maddie and Matthew who were so helpful thru this time of sickness and stress.
Sunday's service at 11 a.m., August 22, 2021, will be dedicated in Jim's Memory at Enterprise United Methodist Church, 2000 Enterprise Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686. All are welcome to attend. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021, at East Tenn. Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Milhorn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enterprise United Methodist Church, 332 Fillers Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mountain Home VA where Jim always had excellent care when needed.
