Jerry Douglas Eldreth

Jerry Douglas Eldreth, age 71, of Bristol, Va., went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Johnston Memorial.

He was born on August 25, 1949, in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late Dollie Johnson Burden and Ray Eldreth. Jerry lived in the Bristol area since 1989. He was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church in Bluff City, Tenn., where he proudly served on the security team. He loved his church family dearly. Jerry worked with The Williams Company for 45 years, where he made several lifelong friends along the way. He was a foster dad to nearly 50 children with Highlands Community Services and DePaul Community Resources. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry always loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed listening to southern gospel music.

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 38 years, Karen Hall Eldreth; two daughters, Kayla Eldreth Martins and husband, Lawrence, and Kari Eldreth and Richard; grandchildren, Noah, Carson, Tucker, and Aaro; sisters, Carol, Betty, and Janett; brother, Howard; and several special friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Montgomery Cemetery in Abingdon, Va. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
