Mary Musick Obituary
January 6, 1949 - March 5, 2026
Mary Ann Musick, a light to all who knew her, died on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the age of 77. She was the daughter of the late Dalton and June Musick of Bristol, TN, where she was born and raised. Mary attended Tennessee High School and ETSU where she earned a BFA in Painting and Drawing. She went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Teaching from UTK. A gifted artist and art teacher, Mary touched the lives of hundreds of students in her 30 years of teaching at Beaumont Magnet School in Knoxville, where she served as the first and only full-time elementary art teacher in Knox County for many years. She was a passionate art teacher and was known to go above and beyond in her creative and dynamic lesson plans. Mary will always be remembered for her fearless, adventurous spirit. She was a joy to know and she will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Dalton Musick. She is survived by her children, Heather Anne Bothe and Jason Heath of Bristol, Tennessee, and Rebecca Reid Kaufman of Oakland, California.
Mary maintained her sense of humor until the very end, requesting actors be hired to attend her funeral to wail and cry and cause a scene. Wailing strangers, friends, and family are welcome to attend her funeral mass which will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bristol, VA, on Saturday, March 21st at 1:30 pm. Visitation will begin at the church at 1 pm. Upon Mary's request, a lively Irish wake will follow at 3:30 pm at The Bristol Hotel.

I have many childhood memories with the Musick family on Holly Court. The first house I ever lived in was directly across from the Musick´s house . Many memories with Mary at my grandmothers house where we often spent the night. Treasured memories. My condolences to your sweet family.
