MARION, Va.
Nancy Tuell Carrico, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her home in Marion. Nancy was born in Chilhowie, the last of ten children of the late Carter Tuell and Lizzie Fisher Tuell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Carrico; son, Gary Carrico; son-in-law, Eddie Sheffield; and great-grandson, Justin Sheffield.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother who dedicated her life to taking care of her special son, Gary. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marion.
Survivors include, her daughter, Joyce Carrico Sheffield and special friend, Freddie Williams; grandson, Dwayne Sheffield; granddaughter, Dana (Mike) Hounshell; great-grandsons, Eric (Jenna) Sheffield, Ethan Hounshell, and Nicky Sheffield; great-granddaughters, Jeri Sheffield and fiance, Josh Carter and Mia Sheffield; great great-grandson, Caden Sheffield; great great-granddaughter, Kinsey Sheffield and one on the way; and special caregivers, Bridget Pullen, Jamie Spruill, Kathy Evans, Jennifer McGlothin. She is also survived by her special companion, Bandit.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion, with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Joyce Your Mother was the sweetest person . I rode with her to Calvary Baptist Church many Sundays, when I lived on Lincoln Ave. Your Dad & Gary were in my thoughts & prayers at their passings. What a great family to have the privilege to know. You & your family are in my prayers, just treasure all your memories of them. May God bless you all. Nancy was the best of the best!! They sure don't make them like her anymore. I feel privilidege to have been able to care for her. But most of all, call her my friend. I needed her most days just as much as she needed me. I am going to miss her terribly but I know she is rejoicing and singing with Jesus. Thanks for all the laughs and wonderful memories. Dear Family, Nancy was a good longtime friend to us. We sat together in church, and she would at times go with us to visit Reamus' family and eat dinner with them. She came to see us often and at times she and her friend Mrs. Lilly would go with my daughter and her husband to the Barter. Heaven is real and so many have gone to their new home that we miss here, but happiness and peace is what they are enjoying. Nancy gave me a cartoon that had two old women sitting in rockers. One said to the other one, "I've been here so long my friends in heaven will think I didn't make it." I had it with me one time when I was with Mom in the hospital, and I showed it to Dr. Patterson and he took it and made a copy to give his mom. Now we celebrate Nancy home. Thank our Father for preparing us a place.
