Patsy Mikeal

1938 - 2026

Patsy Mikeal, age 87, of Bristol, Va passed away on Sunday March 1, 2026 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Abingdon, Va.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Solon Butler, son Randy Mikeal, and husband of 61 years, Herman Mikeal.

She is survived by her grandson, Logan Mikeal and fiancé Jenny Hill of Bristol, Va, sisters Judy Mullins and husband Randy of Hendersonville, NC and Connie Allen of Shelby, NC, niece Shannon Standish and husband Randy of Shelby, NC, and great nephew Landon Standish of Williamsburg, KY, and special longtime friends Faye Durham and Diane Cloyd.

Patsy was born in Ellenboro, NC on November 26, 1938. She graduated from Ellenboro High School in 1956, and she came to Bristol, VA at the age of 17. She began working for S.E. Massengill pharmaceutical company making labels for medication bottles. Patsy met Herman at Blue Circle in Bristol, TN and they married in August 1963. After having their son, Randy, Patsy began working for the Virginia Department of Tourism where she served as a Manager of the Bristol Virginia Welcome Center. Patsy retired with approximately 50 years of service, and she took great pride in her work and was able to take many trips and tour historical sites over the State of Virginia. Patsy was a member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, and was a woman of great faith in the Lord.

A funeral service will be conducted at Akard Funeral Home on Thursday March 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Dr. Allen Roberts officiating. A burial will follow at East Hills Cemetery in Bristol, TN. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM- 1:00 PM prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Logan Mikeal, Ben Morris, and Brad Duckett.
