Shirley Jane Van Huss Neely, age 89 of Damascus, Va.
Shirley went to be with the Lord and to be with Bill once again on November 1, 2025 at home.
Shirley was born in Washington County, Virginia on October 18, 1936, where she resided all of her life. She was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of Washington Springs United Methodist Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill of 60 years. Also, by her parents, Kermit and Thelma Van Huss; two brothers, John and Dickie Van Huss; and two sisters, Joann Smith and Lenna McCall.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Laura Mullins who she was very proud of, and her great son-in-law, Steve of Glade Spring, Virginia. Also, two sisters-in-law, Louise Van Huss and Bonnie Van Huss both of Damascus, Virginia.
There was a viewing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Lusk and Rev. Ethan Johnson officiating. Visitors may call at the home of Laura and Steve anytime.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org; 800-805-5856; 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
