Wanda Morrell Leonard

Wanda Morrell Leonard, age 79, passed peacefully at Bristol Regional Medical Center on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with family by her side.

Wanda was born to the late Lewis "Harmon" Morrell and Ardith Rouse Morrell on October 29th 1944, in Bristol, VA. After graduating from Bluff City High School in 1962, she married her soul mate and the love of her life, Fred "Wayne" Leonard. They lived and raised their family in Blountville throughout their entire loving marriage.

Wanda was the Secretary at Roden Electric, in Bristol, TN, and later would spend 12 years as a Customer Service Representative for Roche Biomedical Labs (now Labcorp) in Bristol, where she made lifelong friendships. After leaving Roche, she worked the front office at Rural Health Services Consortium in Kingsport, TN, and for a short while was the Assistant Director for Adult Respite Care at Central Presbyterian Church in Bristol, VA. Wanda retired in 2009 from Southeastern Retina Associates, where more lifelong friendships where made.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lewis Edward "Eddie" Leonard, and daughter, Letha "Keli" Leonard.

Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 62 years, Wayne Leonard; daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Joe Adams, of Mount Carmel, TN; grandson, Joshua Leonard of Blountville, TN; and sister, Patsy Manning, of LaGrange, GA.

Special thanks to her 'other' daughter, Amy Harr Gupton, to Wayne's 'angel', Lisa Crain Eisenlohr, and to all family and friends for their continued love and prayers. Wanda always had a welcome smile for everyone, she never met a stranger, and we know she will be missed by all who knew her.

The funeral service for Mrs. Leonard will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Milhorn and Pastor Jimmy Gross officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, in Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park.
