I have many happy memories of Mr. Boatright. He was my Algebra I and II teacher in Cedar Hill. I still tell my children stories about his class. He inspired me to do my best and I will always be grateful to him for that. I am very sorry for the loss your family has suffered at his passing. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Bobby was the professional's professional. He was the same man among common folks as he was among entertainment's stars. He always treated everyone with respect and common courtesy. He added the right touch to the annual Bob Wills Tribute in Mountain View, Arkansas. Bobby was a hero of mine yesterday, is today and will be all of my tomorrows.

Losing a great friend such as Bobby leaves an emptyness one can't describe. He first worked a new years job with us about 25 years ago. Bobby was the greatist. Any time I needed him, he was there. We will keep you in our prayers and hope it helps to ease the pain. We will miss him, too. --Henry & Doris

After reading all of the tributes to Bobby I am even more respectful of what kind of man he was. A lot of us in the Western Swing community never knew what an inspiration and positive influence he was as a teacher. We only knew how much we enjoyed hearing him play and how giving he was with his time and talent. He was one of the first musicians I met in Texas and he not only made me feel immediately welcome but always expressed his gratitude and support for those attempting to support the music we loved in non-musical ways. He was a dear friend and I will be forever grateful that I knew him. My sincerest sympathies to Linda, and his entire family. He left us too soon but left so much of himself behind in the lives he touched. May he rest in peace and eternal music.

W.S & I knew Bobby best as an Educator. There was not one more patient and loving than he. Not every teacher is loved by all students, but I never heard of one who did not love Bobby. Linda is also just as committed as he was. Linda we will always appreciate this committment you have. I know your loss, and my heart hurts for you and your family.
Love you,

Mr. Boatright was that one teacher that I’ll always remember who made the big difference in what I believed I could become. Through college and graduate school, I often thought back to the man who first wakened in me the life of the mind. He was a wonderful teacher, but he loved his music, and I knew it was really his primary vocation. So I was very glad when I later learned that he had become a famous fiddle player! I only regret not having the opportunity to hear him play with the Texas Playboys, and to thank him in person for the enormous influence he had in my life. And, Mr. Boatright, I forgive you for all those bad cat jokes you told me when you drove my bus route.

Johnny & Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. I know how hard it is to lose a loved one, and around the Holidays is even worse. I never had a chance to meet or hear Bobby play, but I heard so many good things about him. I was a fan of Canyon and that is how I know Johnny, but have not seen him for many years. Take comfort in knowing that Bobby is in a wonderful place and there is beautiful music being played in Heaven right now.

Mr. Boatright was the first math teacher to set high standards for us, then go out of his way to help us get there. Several of us could be found studying at his kitchen table most evenings! My success in college is due in large part to his influence in my life in those high school math and physics courses. For sure, I wouldn't be teaching statistics!!
Today, I frequently have my own students gathered around my dinning room table. Thanks, Mr. Boatright, for caring and for believing in us.

I am truly indebted to Mr. Boatright for demanding more from me than what I thought I could do. He was one of the first teachers I had who not only required that his students work extremely hard, but that they also develop some discipline and self reliance, qualities I initially did not have a whole lot of interest in as a teenager.
Equally important were those rare occasions where I was able to interact with him outside the classroom. I came to better understand what caused him to expect the most from his students--he cared deeply about people, and wanted what was best for them, both academically and as individuals. I pray God will comfort you and your family during this time, especially by knowing the difference he made in many, many lives.

I truly believe Mr Boatright was the only person in my
life that TRULY believed I had potential...unfortunately he
could never convince me of that. I did have the pleasure of
seeing him a couple of times since graduation of 1979. I
hope he believed me when I told him how much I love and
appreciate him. I had him as a teacher for 3 years at CHHS,
he was very special to me. One of my greatest memories was seeing him play with the Texas Playboys and he enjoyed us going. The next day at school he would say "Pam tell "whoever" what you did last night". He was always so humble.
Thank you for letting us know, and may God comfort all his
family (that includes us students) during this hard time.
Sincerly

I express my sincere condolences for your loss.
Mr. Boatright taught me algebra at Bells High School my freshman year 1962-1963. He demanded we put forth our best. His algebra class instilled in me the thirst to conquer foreign concepts. I remember after making the best grade and distorting the class curve, one student threatened me for making a passing grade on the tests and creating problems for the other students. I was proud of my achievement and did not crumble under peer pressure.
Looking back to my experience, Mr. Boatright prepared me for college where no one babied you. You had to complete your assignments and study.
I am more grateful today for his rigid circulum than back in Bells 46 years ago.
I know he instilled a similar experience to many other students over the years.
God bless his soul.

I WAS PROUD TO BE HIS FRIEND.

When Bob played the fiddle he adjusted all the strings; He listened carefully and long before he played a thing. For it isn't just perfection that you're listening to hear. It must fit the heart that's playing as well as please the ear, and when he had tightened up the bow and rechecked all the strings, He took that bow in his old right hand and he made that fiddle sing! Its the highest form of honor that an audience imparts. Its a tribute to musicians--for they know they've touched our hearts. While Bob plays no more waltzes, hoedowns, or western swing. He will always remain in our hearts. We will forever love and miss him. Bob Wills Swing Band in heaven just got bigger and better!
