Guy Covington Obituary
Guy has lived in Bryan County for all of his life and attended Cobb Schools. On November 8, 1960 in Durant, Guy and Bobbie J. Holt were united in marriage and spent many loving years together until Bobbie's passing on January 24, 2013. Working as a carpenter/farmer for most of his life, his farm was Guy's pride and joy. In his free time, Guy loved to garden, watch old westerns and tell jokes and was always making people laugh. Guy enjoyed his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Guy was known as an honest, loving, selfless man and he will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Guy is preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Etta Covington; wife, Bobbie Covington; son, Danny Murl Covington; four brothers and three sisters.
Guy is survived by his daughters, Debbie Richardson of Durant, Sue Stair of Durant; grandsons, Rhett Richardson of Denison, Shane Hurst and wife Kari of Durant, Shawn Hurst of Durant; granddaughter, Whitney Shumaker and husband Cane of Keller, Texas; great-granddaughters, Kara Richardson, Sheridan Hurst, Cooper Shane Hurst; nephews, Duane Covington, Daryl Lyday and wife Wanda of Durant, Lynn Wayne Covington of Dallas; along with many other family and friends.
Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Guy will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7th at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Lowell Howard officiating. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6th at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with Rhett Richardson, Cane Shumaker, Duane Covington, Stephen Covington and Shane Hurst serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Shawn Hurst. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
