Hans deVlugt Obituary

SHERMAN - Hans R. deVlugt, 73, of Sherman, passed away on April 3, 2010 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Dannel Funeral Home with Dr. Eddie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery with military honors being accorded at the graveside. The family will be at the funeral home from 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.
Hans was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Indonesia to Dirk and Reina Pasteur deVlugt. He served in the U.S. Army 1960-1963. On June 4, 1961, he married Judy Kidd in Dallas. He had lived in this area for 10 years after retiring as a computer programmer for Medical City Hospital-Lab Corp in Dallas.
Predeceased by his parents, Hans is survived by his wife Judy; a son Jeffery deVlugt and wife Kim of Sherman; two daughters, Lisa Steele and husband John of Sherman and Lori Porter and husband Rex of Rowlett; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard deVlugt of Grand Saline, George deVlugt of Florida, and Bill deVlugt of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews and other members of the extended family.
Pallbearers will be Jeff deVlugt, Rex Porter, Josh Steele, George Guin, Richard deVlugt, and John Steele.
