John D. Crichton

1926 - 2018

SHERMAN - A funeral mass for John Douglas Crichton will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jeremy Myers will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Crichton passed away Monday, February 12 at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Center.
John was born September 14, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas to the late John and Thelma (Bainum) Crichton. He proudly served in World War II as a U.S. Navy Sea Bee serving in the Pacific. John married Louise Justice on February 9, 1957 in Durant, OK and spent seven years working as an oil field supply salesman in Kermit, NM before moving to Sherman, TX. He worked seventeen years at IBM, and twelve years at Oscar Mayer. He was a devoted and loving father who was kind to everyone he met. He was a kid at heart who loved spending time with his family on Lake Texoma, boating, skiing, fishing and traveling. In retirement, he and Louise enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling the country in their RV.
John was a member of the Masonic Lodge until he joined the Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served many hours as a volunteer for the Wilson N. Jones Auxiliary.
Mr. Crichton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise of Sherman; daughter, Janet Lighty and husband Richard of Arlington; sons, Scott Crichton of Sherman and Craig Crichton and wife Karen of Sherman; John Douglas Crichton, Jr. (Revis) of Denver, Colorado, and Michael Revis of Sterling, Alaska; six grandchildren, Erin Crichton, Jerome Revis and wife Faye, Tiffany Revis, John Revis, Megan Revis and three great granddaughters, Ellie Lu, Ruby and Allie Revis; niece Cindy Boggs and husband Larry of Missouri and three devoted caregivers Carolyn Guess, Patty Dodson and Angie Ballou.
The family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to Dr. Benson, and the nurses, aides and staff at Wilson N. Jones Regional Medical Centre for their tireless devotion, compassion and care during John's illness.
The rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home. Visitation will follow from 6:30-8:00 at the funeral home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
