MELBA NEWTON Obituary

MELBA LATHAM PEAK NEWTON Melba Latham Peak Newton, age 69, of Anna, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on December 3, 2024, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Melba graduated from Leonard High School in 1974 and went on to work at Hennington Publishing in Wolfe City, Texas, and Texas Instruments in Sherman, Texas. Melba was a loving daughter, devoted mother, wife, and aunt. She had a passion for travel, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and spent many happy hours working alongside her husband, Danny Newton, in their pecan orchard before his passing. A gifted cook, Melba cherished her time spent in the kitchen and loved visiting with family and friends, especially her son, Jason Peak. Her laughter was infectious, and she was a treasured friend to many. Melba was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Claudine Latham, and her beloved husband, Danny Newton. She is survived by her son, Jason Peak of Anna, Texas, along with a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In keeping with her compassionate spirit, Melba chose to donate her body to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, to further research into Glioblastoma brain cancer.
