Patsy King Harrell
Patsy King Harrell, lovingly known as PAT, was 84 years in age at her departure to Heaven. She lived with her husband of 60 years, Joe, in Howe, TX on their family land. Pat entered into rest, peace and illness free on March 21, 2021 with Joe by her side. Her radiant, blue eyes closed on this Earthly realm at 11: 15a.m, the Lord's Day.
Pat was born to Lucille Aston King and her husband Floyd Monroe King. Her siblings were Floyd Monroe King Jr. and Elizabeth Anne King Atchison.
In 1944, at the age of 6, her mother moved the family to Columbus, GA. She graduated from Columbus HS in 1954. The family, with the exception of Floyd Jr (who was married to Betty Thames King) moved back to Texas in 1956. They settled in Sherman, TX. It was here that Pat met the love of her life, Joe Lynn Harrell. They were married on January 28, 1961 at Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Living in Sherman, Pat and Joe had a hand in raising her nephews and niece, Bob Allen Atchison, Ben F. Atchison and Brenda Pat Atchison Puckett. Blessing their marriage, God gave them 3 children, SuzAnne "Suzi" Harrell on January 4, 1963, Joe Lynn Harrell Jr. on November 9, 1964 and Timothy Scott Harrell on June 16, 1966.
Pat was most proud of her children and took great pride in raising them. Later in life she would be greatly blessed again to have 4 Grandchildren, Colton Bryce Harrell, Riley Laine Harrell, Hayden Scott Harrell, and Holden Shane Harrell.
In 1965, Joe and Pat moved back to Texas and lived in Richardson. They lived there 7 years and worshipped at the Waterview Church of Christ.
1971 brought a new adventure for them in Houston, Texas. While there they opened a store called "Athlete's Locker." Her nephew Ben came to live with the family in 1976. It was a family affair and they all worked together selling sporting goods, making uniforms, assembling trophies as well as participating in community sporting events. For Pat, it was necessary that the family worked together as a unit. Family was most important to her. Balancing worship, work, sports, Camp Fire Girls and fishing trips to Galveston was never a burden to her. Pat was always joyful, laughed a lot, and inspirational to everyone. She was the neighborhood MOM. She was tireless, but she always made time to paint. It was her passion. 1994 brought Joe and Pat back to Richardson, Texas. Here they were reunited with their Waterview C of C family. They witnessed the marriages of Joe to Regina Warner and Tim, both marriages at Waterview. Joe and Pat were able to live close enough to participate in the raising of her Grand Children. This was her biggest joy. Her Grand Babies were most precious to her.
In 2012, Pat and Joe moved to their family land in Howe, Texas. Pat was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer at the age of 77. She was determined she would beat it and she was pronounced cancer free on July 4, 2016. She told the doctor that all Glory goes to God and it was through her faith he saved her. 6 additional years were added to her life. During this time, she was truly blessed. Pat was able to be here to see her grandchildren graduate and build their own relationships with our living God. Both Riley Laine and Holden Shane were Baptized. Pat also gained 2 Great Grand Children, Kalia Brielle born to Riley Laine Harrell and Elijah Scott born to Hayden Scott Harrell.
Pat's surviving family includes her husband Joe, daughter SuzAnne, sons Joe and Tim, Daughter in law Regina, who was so caring and gracious to her. Grandchildren: Colton, Hayden, Riley, and Holden. Great Grandchildren: Kalia and Elijah. Sisters in Law Melinda Harrell, Betty King and Sylvia Gardner. Brother-in-Law, Charles Harrell. As well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
