REX LOONEY Obituary
REX LOONEY
Rex Looney passed away in McKinney, Texas on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the age of 69. He was born to Tex Looney and Lillian (Willingham) Looney on October 17, 1956 in Roswell, New Mexico. Rex married Jacky Stephens on January 2, 1977 in Whitewright, Texas. Together they had 2 children, Chrisonna and Jeremiah.
Rex worked construction alongside his dad from an early age carrying that trade into a rewarding 22 year career with the Denison Independent School District until retirement. For many seasons he poured his heart into coaching his sons' baseball teams, cheering from the dugout with the same pride he brought to everything he touched. A proud member of the Grayson County Bowling Association for over two decades, he etched his name in memory with perfect 300 games. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan maybe their biggest fan. Yet above every paint stroke, strike, or touchdown, he was an extraordinary husband, father, papaw, and friend whose quick wit and infectious laughter provided the best medicine for any moment. Without question, his proudest legacy was his family that he cherished beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jacky Looney of Whitewright, Texas, daughter Chrisonna Martin and her husband Kyle of Trenton, Texas, son Jeremiah Looney of Whitewright, Texas. Grandchildren: Airyonna Looney and Annabelle Looney. Rex is also survived by his siblings Mary Ann, Rose Mary and Tex Jr.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents, Tex and Lillian Looney, mother and father-in-law: Jack and Marinell Stephens, his uncle Johnny Ray Willingham and sister Strawberry.
The family extends heart felt thanks to the staff of Medical City of McKinney for their compassionate care.
