Winnie Earline Kemp

1916 - 2009

TIOGA - Winnie Earline Kemp, 92, of Tioga passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009. She was born on Dec. 20, 1916 in Gunter to General Price and Amy Elizabeth (Cox) Sturdy. She married Carl Winston Kemp on March 12, 1937 in Durant, Okla. She was a graduate of Gunter High School and a member of Tioga Church of Christ. She worked for several years at Hilltop Haven in Gunter.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Tioga Church of Christ, with Ricky Patterson and Mark Johnson officiating, burial will follow at Tioga Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Huff/Slay Funeral Home.
She is survived by sons, Carl Winston Kemp Jr. of Stamford, Stanley Price Kemp of Tioga, and Ricky Dale Kemp of Tioga; daughter, Carol Ann Gray of Duncanville; sisters, Maurine Gates of Denver, Colo., and Alma Ruth Burns of Gunter; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, brother Oscar Thurman Sturdy, and sisters, Loma Cook and Doris Barlow.
