Aaron Marquis Obituary

Aaron John Marquis

Aaron John Marquis, age 36, peacefully passed away at Madigan Army Medical Center in Ft. Lewis WA. on September 18, 2009.
Aaron was born on January 7th, 1973 in Millinocket Maine. Following his graduation from Stearns High School in 1991, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and began an 18 year career during which time he traveled to many diverse ports of call and duty stations. At the time of his death he had attained through his hard work and diligence the rank of EN1, or Engineman First Class.
Anyone who knew Aaron soon realized that he had a real passion for making anything go bigger, better, and faster. By far the greatest gift he received during his career came in 1996 when he met his future wife, Kandice, also a USN veteran. Together they created a loving home on Camano Island, WA where they made many great friends, and enjoyed all that this area has to offer by way of fishing, hunting, and camping. Aaron had been currently posted at Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory.
In addition to his wife, Kandice, Aaron is survived by his mother, Susan Stout of Glenburn, Me., and her husband, Jim Stout. He leaves three sisters; Karen Clark and her husband, Shawn, their daughters, Keeley and Savanna of Hermon, Me., Jeanne Bartlett and her husband, Roman, sons Landen and Emerson of Harvard, Ma., Andrea Cutler and her husband, Ben Cutler of Veazie, Maine. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Anne Flanagan of Brewer, Maine, his uncle, Michael Flanagan and fiancé, Nathalie Dube of Hollis Center, Maine, and children, Thomas and Ashley Flanagan of Waterville, his uncle, Kevin Flanagan, wife, Sylvia and cousin, Ryan Flanagan of Brunswick, Maine, and his loving godmother, Peggy Jamieson of Millinocket, Maine. He is also survived by Clayton Malone and his children and families.
He was predeceased by his father, John Bernard Marquis in 1996.
Memorials may be made to "John B. Marquis" Scholarship at Stearns High School, in care of Judy Michaud at 199 State Street, Millinocket, ME. 04462.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at the Camano Lutheran Cemetery, Camano Island, Washington. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.

My deepest sympathy to your family. I am shocked. I was stationed with Aaron in Everett at IMF and was side by side as an Engineman in the shop. He was a great guy and I am sad that his life has come to an end so abruptly. I truly hope that your family is doing ok and he will remain a great memory and freind for the rest of my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

Dearest Aaron, a man who loves his wife more then I know! A friend to us in so many ways! You are so kind and fun and outgoing, you always helped when you saw needed. You grill the best meat,(heaven is lucky to have a cook like you) the crab you would catch from your outings in your boat, how yummy it was. A man that took pride in everything you have. THE LOVE YOU AND KANDICE HAVE for one another is not something you see in every marriage. We will forever look up to you because of the man, sailor, husband, friend you are. You and Kandice are a part of our family and always will be. We promise to always look after Kandice for you!! Kandace we are praying for you and hope some how you can find the love and strength to get thru this. Hank and I are making a promise to always be in contact with you while we are away in Japan. I am making cake balls for the holidays in honor of you and Aaron, I remember the look on his face when he shared them with us!! We love you both!! Gloria Terford

I don't even know were to start. I will never forget the day the kids and I moved in next door. Lucky for us we all became fast friends. Aaron was the light in Josh's eye. He taught him all the cool things every teenage boy is interested in.Trucks, engines, hunting and let's not forget the kegorater. Aaron I will always be grateful that you took him under your wing. I believe people come into our lives when we need them most. You were that for him and I thank you. Joanna is the only person on the face of the planet that could leave you speechless. For myself and John thank you for the friendship and the memories!
Kandice thank you for being the voice of reason with our boys. You are a strong and warm and kind friend. Josh's second mom in many ways. Thank you for being there for him in some tough times. I want you to know that I will always be here anytime and all the time. I am lucky enough to have you in my life. To all the rest of Aaron's family please know how sorry we are for your loss. Aaron was a great man and a great friend to all of us.
Much love,
Becki, John, Josh and Joanna

God saw you getting tired and a remedy was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Friday. Love you all!
