Annamae Holverstott Gibbons

Annamae Holverstott Gibbons passed away in Mill Creek, WA on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, surrounded by family. She was 90 years old, born on May 10, 1921 in Fairview, Coos County, Oregon.
Annamae met the love of her life, Clarence Gibbons, in Seattle, WA in 1942 while he was a Civil Defense Warden. They walked the streets together, enforcing the blackouts, and married on December 27, 1942, two weeks after they met. They enjoyed 56 happy years of marriage. Clarence passed away on July 3, 1999, but they are now reunited in the presence of the Lord after 12 years apart.
Annamae was the last of her generation, out of all her brothers, sisters, and cousins. She leaves behind her children, Barbara Yost (Ron), Frances Gibbons, and Thomas Gibbons (Debbie); her grandchildren, Donna Cemulini (Daniel), Christine Lapp (Darren), David Gibbons (Kary), Amy Haines (Tim), and Rosa Gibbons; her great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kylie, Michael, Tanner, Lea, A.J., Lewis, and Dylan; and her great-great-grandson Jude.
Annamae retired as a teacher in 1979 after 25 years, and continued to lead a very active and fulfilling life with a wide variety of hobbies. She had a deep faith in God and was heavily involved with her church family. In the course of her life she attended Lake City Presbyterian Church, Maplewood Presbyterian Church, and Cedar Cross United Methodist Church, before moving to Merrill Gardens and becoming involved in the services there. She served her churches in various capacities, from choir director to elder. She was also active in the Regional Presbytery of North Puget Sound, Weaver's Guild, and Sno-Isle Genealogical Society, among other organizations. Her many other talents and hobbies included gardening and botany, weaving, poetry and creative writing, watercolors, knitting and crocheting, card making, reading, and Native American pine needle and cedar bark basketry.
She was truly a "Proverbs 31 woman." Not only do her children rise up and bless her, but she was a blessing to all her family and friends. She was known for her kindness, positive attitude, and her willingness to get involved in the activities around her.
The family is especially grateful to the staff of Four Seasons Adult Family Home for the loving care they gave to Annamae in her final months.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 17, 2012, at Cedar Cross United Methodist Church, 1210 132nd St SE, Mill Creek, WA 98012.
