Anthony Zain Goodwill
A beautiful blue eyed boy with red hair, strong willed, independent, curious, with a smile that could charm anyone, and full of energy. He loved toy cars, soft things, and pretty girls. But most of all he loved his pillow from his great-grandmother. Anthony didn't lose the battle with cancer, he won, and now he's free of pain, and in the arms of Jesus, and nothing can ever hurt him again.
Anthony's great-grandmother, Irene Goodwill was waiting for him in heaven to show him around, and now they're together waiting for us.
Anthony leaves behind his mom and dad, Lisa Viscussi and Jerry Goodwill Jr; his brother, Joseph; grandparents, Patty and Jerry Goodwill, Sr, and Ann Marie Viscussi, Marlyn and Phil Viscussi; uncles, Anthony and Vance and Uncle Matt; and his best friend and cousin, Aden; many great-aunts, uncles, cousins and family members all around the U.S.
There are so many to thank for the help through this difficult time. Children's Hospital, all the nurses, (you are angels of mercy). Doctors, Beth and Becky, all the surgeons, and everyone that helped in Anthony's care. Tonya and Chaplin Mark for your love, help and support. The Ronald MacDonald House, Soulumination for the unforgettable pictures. Snohomish County Hospices, the Palliative Care Team, Pam, Julia, Dana, Maggie and the Hospices volunteer, Shana, he loved being with. The Seattle SeaFair Pirates, who made him an honorary Pirate and made him feel so special. The Make A Wish Foundation for the trip to Disneyland. The Allen Creek Elementary school pre-school program, his teacher, Mrs. Rose and his bus drivers, Linda and Sarah, and all the prayers from those around the country.
Now don't be weeping or this pretty bit of clay for the boy that lived there has gone and ran away, he's doing very finely and appreciates your love, but sure enough the Father wanted him in the large house up above. Now he didn't give you that child, not by a hundred thousand miles, he thought you needed some sunshine so he lent him for awhile. He let you love and keep him 'til your hearts were bigger growed, and these silver tears you're shedding are just interest on the loan. So my poor dejected mourners, let your hearts with Jesus rest, he gives us many wonders he has the right to take away.

Jerry and Patty,
We are so sorry that we have had to be far away and didn't get to know and play with Anthony. We know that our Mom (Dorothy) loved him in a very special way and enjoyed his visits upstairs. He brought happiness and joy to all who knew him.
We are at a loss for words, but can assure you of our love and prayers.
You have been the worlds best Grandparents, God knew that Anthony would need you, and chose you to love and care for his precious life. Many things are not explainable or understandable at this time but the day will come when our eyes will be opened and we will understand the 'why's and mysteries' of this life.
We will continue to uphold you in our prayers and hope to visit in person very soon.
Our love,
Jack and Anna

To Anthony's Family,
Lisa, I am Jackie LaPoint's mom. You and I met a few times and I remember that Paige was crazy about you!
At any rate, I want you and your family to know that we are so sorry about the loss of your precious little boy. I nor Jack ever saw him, but it is easy to tell by his picture and the information I read that he was a wonderful, fun and lovable little boy (as well as cute-as-can-be) and that he was well loved.
We are sorry, just so sorry, but we rejoice with you that he is well and happy and that you will hold him in your arms again.
Love and prayers,
RuthAnn & Jack

To the Goodwill family and so many more that will miss Anthony imeasurably. I was one of the lucky volunteers on Anthony's wish/Make A Wish. I saw those twinkling eyes on our first visit and I was hooked. He was such a sweet little guy. I witnessed the love that surrounded Anthony and it warmed my heart. My heart and prayers are with all of you. With sincerest sympathy. Gina King

I met Anthony last year when I had the privilege of working with Mrs. Rose in the Preschool room at Allen Creek Elementary. Anthony stole my heart right away when, on the first day, he took my hand at recess and asked me to watch him hang on the bar. Each day when I said "goodbye" to him on the school bus, he had that sweet smile. He was a lesson to me in enjoying the things in life that seem small but are really very significant. Your family is in my prayers. Thank you for sharing your little guy with us!

Dear Goodwill family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You have been in my thoughts and prayers these past few months as Shana has shared pictures with me. What an amazing little boy who was loved by so many! May the memories you have be a comfort to you.
I share the privelege of knowing Shana well, too. She introduced herself to me during my son, Dallin's, first hospital stay when he was diagnosed with cancer at age 5. Within 11 months he passed on to heaven, so my heart goes out to you as I think of the deep saddness our family has gone through with missing him. Time does help heal... but certain times of year are still tough. It has been 5 years ago for us now.
A year after Dallin's passing, Shana's beloved little son Max departed mortality. I treasure the memories I have of visits with him and his family, and felt priveleged to offer a listening ear since I had been through bereavement. I envision that Max and Dallin have said hello and exchanged hugs with Anthony and that all are glad to be tied together with love for our mutual friend, Shan.
May God bless you at this time. I will think of you especially on Oct. 5.

I must express my condolences to the family,
I was only scanning the paper online yet, when I saw the photograph of your child and read about his life, I was deeply moved. You are fortunate to have strong and supportive family and friends and it is times such as these when we need to turn also, to God more than ever. As 2 Corn. 1: 3, 4 reminds us that the " Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation” will always be there for you and your family as well. Rely upon God, family, and friends as you manage during these difficult times.
Sincerely,
Shar-Mar Riedel

My beloved littlest Pirate Anthony,
I gave my heart to you one Febuary day and became your playmate, your girlfriend, your servant and your very own mermaid. We danced, we played, we blew up hundreds of balloon animals. We painted rocks and popped popcorn, giggled for hours, we splashed in the water when nobody was looking and we broke all of lifes rules in our unusual romance of the heart.
To serve you was my greatest honor "little man". May you run and dance in the netherlands of our mortal curiosities, and find pleasure in the freedom from your pain and great suffering in the end of your life here. I look forward to our reunion someday and my deepest joy will return when all the children I have helped cross over dance for me again. You will be there waiting.
A peice of me went with you on your journey....
In gratitude for allowing me to serve my love,
Your Shana-banana

Anthony,
May you sail quietly across the peaceful harbor to the shores where pain resides no more. You have fought bravely our little pirate and now it is your time to rest. Through your vulnerability you taught us to be strong. You gave so many of us a chance to be better people than we were before knowing you. We are in your debt little man.

I have watched you deal with the pain for some time and I know God gives you what you need to cope. Your beautiful boy is in a far better place than we know and even though we will miss him so much, for him we shall try to live our best life so we can one day be with him again. He waits for you his loving mom to hold him again. Call if you need me ANYTIME. Val
P.S. I was glad to have met him and you and Joe too!

You are our own little Pirate. It was a humbling experience when we met you before the easter parade in Snohomish. It was amazing to see how such a little guy could touch the hearts of so many big Pirates. Your courage, ambition and zest inspired us all.
We wish you fair winds and smooth sailing Lad.

Anthony showed the pirates the true meaning of pirating. He taught me that a pirate is someone who strives to be the best they can be at all things and not necessarily as someone who has prowess in the physical arts of battle. He showed me how to live a code of honor and to live life to the fullest in full awareness and without fear of the unpredictable nature of life
Smooth sailings and calm seas

I shall always be in your debt
