Bruce was my partner when I worked for seven years as a Fire Investigator. We had a lot in common. He and I were both born in 1945. I was two months older which he frequently reminded me. Bruce and I served in the US Navy and we were hired by Snohomish County on the same day in 1986. We attended the Law Enforcement Academy together - not so easy for two old guys. Bruce once told me "you think everyone is entitled to your opinion". He knew me well.

I am sad to hear of Bruce's passing.
I have such good memories of working with him. I am just one of several now retired fire dispatchers at 911 who admired him and enjoyed working with him. Many is the time I woke him in the middle of the night with a phone call advising him to respond to a fire scene. The location he was being asked to find was usually far from where he lived and hard to find. He was always cheery and polite despite it often being during the wee hours when most everyone else was fast asleep.
The fire service was better off for having him be an essential part of this all encompassing team for his 28 years of service.
